Twin Talk

In the past week the babies have really been becoming aware of one another. The other day I put them in their bumbo chairs to play with the activity gym toys. They were facing each other, slightly offset, and the toys were between them. I walked out to do some dishes for a few minutes and came back to check on them. They were turned toward one another, looking directly at each other and cooing, smiling and laughing. They carried on for quite a few minutes while I watched and enjoyed them. It was so sweet and touching.

Today I was holding Small Bear and burping her. I noticed Brother Bear looking at her intently from his bouncy seat next to me. I turned her to see him and they both broke out the biggest, most engaging smiles. She started squealing and reaching for him, while he started laughing.

These are the moments that twin parents wait for. The time when they become aware of their special connection. They get excited looking in the mirror, but not with the same intensity and sheer joy. I can hardly wait to see them playing together!

Wombmates and roommates. What a special bond.
