We have survived the first year of infant twins. With the help of family and friends, we made it. I can't believe that they are actually a year old. The time really went fast. And slow. And everything in between.

I am very excited to see what the next year will bring. So many fun milestones to look forward to.

The crazy look on my face is me trying to get the babies to look at the camera when the timer went off. They kept looking behind themselves at us, instead of toward the camera. I was throwing toys and making crazy sounds to get them to smile. You can see the effectiveness for yourself.
Here is another milestone: The first cake.

No fancy store bought cakes for us. The small bears have to avoid dairy until they are two, so it is up to me! I need to take a cake decorating class. Big Sister Bear had a great time helping me make this cake today and helping me 'clean up' the icing. She was very hyper all day.

This is the first and only bite that Small Bear took. Surprisingly she did NOT like the cake. What's not to like about chocolate???

Brother Bear really enjoyed the cake and smeared it *all over* his head. He does this with most foods and when we clean him up after a meal we usually have to wash his entire head.

Sister Bear, even though she did not like the cake, was more than happy to swipe some off of Brother Bear's tray while he was mugging for the camera. She has no intention of eating it, she just wants it because it is his. This happens a lot in our house.
It was a great birthday. We decided that the babies were too tired to open presents, so those are waiting for tomorrow. One thing about parenthood that we have learned is not to push things if the timing is not right. It will be more fun tomorrow when they have rested.
Oh, and if you made it this far in the post your reward is this funny blooper.

This is me groaning as Papa Bear kicks the camera tripod while running to pose after turning the camera timer on. LOL!
Happy 1st birthday! You guys look so happy despite all the work. It will all pay off and I'm sure you're enjoying every moment :)-MH
